Doo-wop Division

We are proud to introduce the newest member of The Young Bucs.....

Gino Harpold.    Gino fills a BIG void left when long-time, original Buc, Brian Hampton took a leave of absence when increasing family and business

obligations demanded his time.    We will certainly miss Brian's presence. Whether singing lead in a ballad or back-up harmony, Brian has been a big part of The Bucs vocal harmony.  However, Brian has consented to pinch-hit for the Doo-Wop Bucs when the need arises.

At left, the 2010 version of The Young Bucs pause for a pose after a recent rehearsal in preparation for the 2010 Clambake Jazz Festival.

We have been fortunate to have bassman Floyd Montiel on Team Buc.  Floyd has succumbed to the pressure from fellow Bucs, to come out of the shadows and sing a couple of lead solos in the Buc set list.  WOW.... What a voice!

The Young Bucs started as a mostly acapella vocal group, doing doo-wop standards like Duke of Earl, Little Darlin', Don't Know Why I love You, and Come Go With Me.  Then during one summer while Floyd went off to summer school, Les, Brian and John began singing at the Little Ole Opry at LTOB and different variations of Bucs have been regulars at both the summer shows and the Christmas Opry.

In 2006, the Doo-Wop Bucs were invited to perform at the Southcoast Clambake Jazz Festival.  With the addition of Drums, Keyboard/sax and stand-up bass, the Bucs were rockin' and audiences were singing along and dancing up a storm.  The Bucs have been Jazz Festival regulars ever since and just finished putting their stamp on the 2010 Jazz Fest.

Aaah yes......  Kelly Coolen, can be found on occassion, as a Special guest (Sensation) of The Young Bucs.  This 2009 North Bend High School graduate is a freshman at the University of Portland.  Kelly's beautiful singing voice will knock your socks off!  Connie Francis and Teresa Brewer...... move over!  What a treat!
